III (or Sebadoh III) is the third album by the American indie rock band, Sebadoh. It was released by Homestead Records in 1991. III was the first full length Sebadoh album to feature Jason Loewenstein, who joined the band's two founding members Lou Barlow and Eric Gaffney in 1989, and debuted on the "Gimme Indie Rock" single earlier that year. The album cover features a childhood photograph taken by Gaffney.

III (or Sebadoh III) is the third album by the American indie rock band, Sebadoh.

Sebadoh's third, at that time most "polished" album, isn't as universally influential as Nirvana's watershed; for cassette-trading zinesters like my teenage self, though, the scrubby Massachusetts trio nailed a perfect mussed, undeniably cynical, love-struck vibe. Hardly a lifer, I jumped ship after Lou Barlow's foil Eric Gaffney quit in 1994 before the release of 1994's Bakesale. I remember seeing Sebadoh live at Maxwell's in Hoboken right around the release of III. Barlow had a big-ass pimple on his cheek, his guitar was held in parts by tape, and he was peddling Sebadoh shirts he'd made with magic markers.

Sounds decent enough. Not sure what the source was, but who cares? It's a lo-fi masterpiece, not an audiophile production. I don't mean to anger other sellers on discogs, but you can still get this release at record stores (and perhaps from Domino). I got a new copy a few months ago at face value. Just being honest and helpful. You really don't need to pay 50 bucks for this reissue. Don't do it.

They haven't been licensed under Domino for a while now (though looks like this album still is). If you found this new in your record store recently, you're a very lucky man.
