Billy Talent is a Juno Award-winning Canadian rock band formed in 1993. They performed and recorded together for about a decade before finding a wide mainstream following. Originally called Pezz, the group originates from Streetsville, in Mississauga, Ontario, but now hail from Toronto, Ontario.

Billy Talent takes its curious handle from a character name in the 1996 mock rockumentary Hard Core Logo, which traced the continuing adventures of an aging Vancouver punk band. The reference is probably more resonant in the Talent's home base of Toronto; everywhere else, it's a little awkward. The Ex" might be the most straightforward two-and-a-half minutes of punk revivalism on Billy Talent. But even here, the band tears at conventional spurned boyfriend lyrics with vindictive gang vocal interplay, and rushes headlong into the explosive chorus with a nervous energy that's hard to fake.

Reviews:
  • Ylonean
Really cool looking record, but be warned - this record should probably have been a 2LP release, it loses some serious fidelity towards the middle of each side because they've tried to cram too much on one disc.
  • Xcorn
Considering it was never a 2LP set and my first pressing sounds fine, I think this is just a shit pressing.
  • Lilegha
I had no problems with mine? Granted the original does sound slightly better, there is not a huge difference. Atlantic don't press great records these days anyway so you were never going to get the cream of the crop.
