The Larks were an African American vocal group, active in the early 1950s. They were not the same group as the Los Angeles-based Larks (originally The Meadowlarks) featuring Don Julian. Eugene "Gene" Mumford (June 24, 1925 - May 29, 1977) (tenor, lead). Allen (or Alden) Bunn (known later as Tarheel Slim) (September 24, 1923 – August 21, 1977) (baritone, lead, guitar). Thermon (or Thurmon) Ruth (known later as T. Ruth) (March 6, 1914 – September 13, 2002) (baritone, lead).

A comprehensive collection by the early-'50s' Larks, who are considered one of the top doo wop groups of all time. Westside Records didn't leave any significant tracks off this compilation of songs recorded during the two-year span the group was together. They were issued, however, over a five-year period, from 1950 to 1955, by Apollo and Lloyd Records.

Profile: US group from Los Angeles. Otherwise please use Don Julian & The Larks In 1963, the Meadowlarks were a trio: Don Julian, Ted Walters, and Charles Morrison. Just to do something different, Don switched names with the band. Now the singers were called The Larks and the band was The Meadowlarks. However, the first record as the Larks, on the Electra label in March 1963, ("Mashin' Time"/"Margo"), were both instrumentals.
